Lewis, Wilson spike second title

MARK LEWIS and Danny Wilson picked up their second consecutive title in the Out and Bounce Beach Volleyball Player Registration Tour tournament staged recently at Pagee Beach, near Port Maria in St. Mary.

Lewis and Wilson, along with beaten finalists in the Kingston leg, Gotashue Bonner and Namarie Gordon, outshone their opponents with displays of power and finesse.

Lewis and Wilson booked their spot in the final by defeating Levignton James and Michael Thompson while Bonner and Gordon defeated Errol Smith and Kevin Williams.

In the Kingston leg, in a game to 30 points, Bonner and Gordon lost 30-29. At Paggie Beach, Bonner and Gordon's form took a turn for the worse. With nine service errors, Bonner and Gordon lost the final to Lewis and Wilson 30-20 for the second time in as many meetings.

In the female category, all eyes were on who would be brave enough to step up and capture the number one spot as first-leg winners Shanique Green and Sherine Richards were overseas on assignment.

In the semi-finals, the reunited pair of Nardrake Hutchinson and Sandra Walsh defeated Tayna Distant and Neisha Salmon while Christine Russelland Tashai Williams out manoeuvred the fresh pair of Ptamony Dennis and Tracey-Ann Pryce to book their spots in the final.

In a one-set game to 30, the tough serves and court movements of Hutchinson and Walsh proved to be too much for Russell and Williams who lost 30-22.

The third leg is next Saturday at Turtle Beach in St. Ann
