Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

EWAN PEEBLES dismantled a strong field to capture the Professional Golf Association of Jamaica (PGAJ)/NS Cousins Transport Golf Tournament at Breezes Runaway Bay on the weekend.

The tournament, which was played over 36 holes, saw 11 sub-par rounds shot over the two days, with Dermott Warren shooting a five-under 67 for the lowest round of the tournament.

Great streak

Peebles shot 68 and 69 to take the title ahead of Peter Horrobin, who shot two sub-par rounds (69-69), and local legend Seymour Rose.

Ernest Bernard shot 70-69 to finish fourth. Kevin Nedrick and Al Robinson were also impressive with sub-par rounds of 69 and 71 respectively.

The senior section was won by George Decambrie (75-77) and John Dunbar shot 83-80 to capture the amateur crown.

The six-tournament series is being led by Bernard with 300 points followed by Dermont Warren (280), Peebles (250) and Nedrick (212). The top-ranked player will be sponsored to play in two Caribbean Open Golf Tournaments and will be considered for selection to represent the island at the World Cup qualifiers.
