Scotia's Allen takes Vice Chancellor's Trophy

 
Scotiabank manager Terence Allen snapped up the Vice Chancellor's Trophy at the Audi/UWI Golf Classic staged at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club, on Sunday, January 6.

Postponed from November last year due to bad weather, the rescheduled event attracted a very competitive field of golfers. In a dream round, Allen sank four birdies for a Net 65 after carding 79 and playing off a 14 handicap.

Meanwhile, Petrojam won the Corporate team section over Fujitsu and Northern Caribbean University, led by president Dr. Herbert Thompson, held off G.C. Foster College for the Collegiate Team trophy.

Proceeds of the Classic will go to the JGA/UWI Golf Development Foundation, which provides scholarships to talented young golfers seeking to pursue tertiary studies at UWI. The foundation is also offering grants to students for pre-university programmes at several UWI-accredited colleges in order to qualify for entry to UWI. On July 13, 2008, the UWI Golf Classic will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
