English hammers five past Wadadah

Irvino English banged in five goals as dethroned champions Waterhouse trampled the relegated Wadadah 9-2 during their Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL) encounter at Drewsland Mini Stadium yesterday.

English, who scored in the 32nd, 44th, 59th, 74th and 83rd minutes, jumped to the top of the goalscoring chart with 16 goals.

He leads Harbour View's Kavin Bryan on 14 and Ricardo Scott of Reno on 13 as the leading goalscorers in the league.

Narado Brown (21st, 33rd), Demar Phillips (16th) and Andr Hickling (64th) completed the rout and condemned Wadadah to the lower leagues for next season.

Eion Brown had opened the scoring for Wadadah in the 10th minute and his teammate Rohan Reid closed the goalscoring feast in the 89th minute.

Waterhouse, in securing their 12th win of the season, held on to fourth position on 49 points, the same as Tivoli Gardens but with a superior goal difference.

Waterhouse with their massive 9-2 win and without the prolific Kevin Lamey, have now scored 50 goals for the season while conceding 26.

For the St. James-based Wadadah, it will be a season to forget as they suffered their 18th loss while conceding 54 goals in 31 games.

Wadadah with 23 points and two rounds remaining, join St. Catherine's Naggo Head in parish football next season.
