Bryan in seventh heaven

For a player to win four straight Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards in the same competition is no ordinary feat, but national netball representative Nadine Bryan is no ordinary player.

Bryan won her fourth consecutive MVP trophy of the Jamaica Netball Association Berger Paints Super League competition on Monday at the Leila Robinson Courts and, in the process, helped defending champions Jamalco to secure their seventh consecutive hold on the title.

"I feel really good because, out of the seven titles that we have won, this one means a lot to us," said Bryan. "We have been going through a lot of ups and downs this season and I take this one really serious."

Jamalco defeated Waul-grovians 44-42 in the last game of the best-of-three finals.

The 32-year-old Bryan, proved a handful for the Waulgrovians defenders in the final. With her quick passing and swift off-the-ball movement, she was instrumental in helping her team to secure the exciting victory in the final game of the best-of-three series.

"I figure that this last game contributed mostly to me getting this MVP award," she said.

An elated Bryan continued, "I was a little surprised with this award. I think that there were other players in our squad who worked really hard throughout this series." She added that they were always anticipating a tough series from Waulgrovians because they are a championship side.

"We knew that this series was going to be very difficult for us because of the ups and downs in our squad and so we knew that they were coming to defeat us," she said.

"We had to work really hard for it and the girls believed that they could and they went out and did it and I must say congrats to them," Bryan added.

"Waulgrovians is a cham-pionship team but I knew that it was going to come down to who wanted it more and we were determined to defend our title," Bryan said.
