All Comers Track Meet at Stadium East

The Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAA) will be hosting its third All Comers Track Meet today, starting at 2 p.m., at Stadium East.

On show will be the top athletes from the various track clubs and high schools, who will be using the meet as part of their preparation for the upcoming senior and junior national trials.

Among the clubs who will be participating are MVP/UTech, Racers, GC Foster and Athletico Union. The school teams will come from Calabar, Holmwood, Kingston College, St Jago and Wolmer's.

The top performers at last week's All Comers Track Meet were Latoya King, Ravel Grey, Audra Segree, Stephanie McPherson, Wilan Louis, Shawn Pitter, Kimolidi Omeally, Janieve Russell, Kamal Fuller and Matthew Simms.

King of Racers Track Club posted 11.87 seconds to win the women's 100 metres, while Grey of MVP/UTech stopped the clock at 10.40 seconds in the men's event.

Segree of Holmwood led the pack with a 24.59-second win in the women's 200m.

McPherson of MVP/UTech set the trend in the women's 400m with 52.85 seconds, to beat Anastasia Le-Roy of GC Foster. Le-Roy posted a time of 53.84secs to finish second in the same heat.

Her teammate, Louis, clocked 47.07 to win the men's equivalent ahead of GC Foster's Rayon Lawrence (47.29) and St Jago's Nickel Ashmeade (47.57).

Shawn Pitter, who ran unattached, won the men's 1500m in 3:57.90 ahead Rayan Lawrence of MVP/UTech (4:01:31). Only four competitors faced the starter in the men's 5000m, which saw Omeally of MVP/UTech winning in 16:13:49. Lawrence's teammate, Damia Russell, finished second.

In the field events, Janieve Russell of Holmwood took the women's long and high jump double, leaping 5.73 metres to beat off Yanique Levy of Pro Launch in the long jump. She then cleared the bar at 1.70m, the same height as Shanice Hall of Wolmer's, who placed second.
