Seba outplay Grange Hill, Granville upstage Wadadah

SEBA UNITED, Granville, Montpelier and Frome are joint leaders in the Western Confede-ration/Captain's Bakery Western Super League, following Tuesday's third round of matches.

All four teams, with two wins and a draw from three games apiece, are on seven points. Salt Spring, with two wins and a defeat from their three games, are just a point behind on six.

On Tuesday, Seba United blanked Grange Hill 2-0 at the Lion's Den in Montego Bay; Montpelier clipped Violet Kickers 1-0 at the Montpelier Sports Club; Frome edged Negril FC 2-1 in Negril; Granville blanked Wadadah 2-0 at the Sam Sharpe Teachers College Ground; Salt Spring upstaged Clarke's Town 4-1 at the UDC playing field in Montego Bay while Bamboo FC and Mt Salem drew 1-1 at Bamboo.

In their game against Grange Hill at the Lion's Den, star-studded Seba United had Grange Hill on the run for most of the game, but a spate of missed chances prevented them from securing a much wider margin of victory than the final 2-0 scoreline. Wilfred Smith, who missed most of the chances and Kemar James got the goals for Seba.

Chances

"We have to go back to the drawing board to do some work on our finishing because we are definitely missing too many chances," said Delroy Ellis, captain of the Seba United team. "Nonetheless, we are pleased that we got all three points from the game."

Granville, considered by many as the overwhelming favourite to lift the title, bounced back from their disappointing 0-0 draw against Frome in their last game to upstage Wadadah 2-0. Striker David Gilliard scored both goals for Granville.
