Bridgeport on fire

Bridgeport High School is definitely on fire after two consecutive Manning Cup wins between last week Friday and Monday.

The victories have put them in prime position to advance to the next round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup.

On October 3, Bridgeport hammered fellow Portmore team Cumberland 9-0 in a historic match at the Bridgeport High school playing field. On Monday, a double from Darren Mattocks and a goal from Rodger Bucknor jnr., pulled them from behind twice to beat St Jago 3-2.

Up to Thursday, Bridgeport secured 19 points from seven games - with six wins and a draw - two ahead of Eltham High's 17, as they battle for Group D honours.

Cumberland, after being hammered by Bridgeport, also lost heavily to Eltham High, going down 6-0 on Monday.

In Group B, another Portmore team, Waterford High, are doing well, amassing 14 points from six games. Goals from Ricardo Smith and Oshane Greeves helped them to a 2-0 win over Pembroke Hall on Saturday, while they weren't able to get full points against St Mary's College in a match they were expected to win as that encounter was rained out on Tuesday. Also in group B, Ascot ground out a 2-2 draw against Calabar.

In Group E, Greater Portmore are finding the going tough after 9-0 and 7-0 losses to St George's College and Excelsior last Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
