Alpart sweep St Ann Bauxite

 
ALPART CAPTURED this year's Inter-Bauxite Table Tennis Championship with a 3-0 victory over St Ann Bauxite at Windalco's Kirkvine Sports Club, at the weekend.

Windalco's Andrea Wadsworth retained her women's singles crown after an 11-3, 11-5, 11-5 (3-0) win over teammate Elaine Jarrett.

Alpart's Robert Gabay dominated the tournament in his first season in the competition, as he captured the men's singles title and teamed with Oliver Miller to win the first men's doubles crown.

Defending champion

In individual results in the men's team final, Dervon Parchment outlasted Oral Brown 11-9, 11-3, 11-13, 9-11, 11-5 (3-2) and Gabay outscored Wavell Williams 11-7, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9 (3-1) in singles matches for Alpart. Gabay and Miller trounced Williams and Richard Thomas 11-8, 11-4, 11-4 (3-0) in doubles, to secure the 3-0 triumph.

Gabay beat teammate Miller 11-2, 11-9, 11-3, 12-10 (4-0) in the men's singles final after defeating Mark Gregory (Windalco) 3-1 in semi-finals, while Miller knocked out defending champion Hyman (Windalco) 3-2 in the other semi-final.

In other results, Sophia Lawrence (Alpart) overpowered Annalee Baker (SABJ) 11-3, 11-4, 11-1 (3-0) for the female novice title.

In the employees' children's finals, Kerri-Ann Allen (Alpart) defeated Suzanne Lawrence (Alpart and Windalco parents) 11-7, 11-4, 11-7 for the girls' crown. Giancarlo Grant (Windalco) beat Tyrone Blake (Windalco) 11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8 in the boys' under-19 section and Horace Lawrence III (Alpart and Windalco) won in boys' under-16.
