Davia Reid and Sean White captured the boys' and girls' Under-10 singles titles, on the opening day of the Jamaica Table Tennis Association's annual National Championships, at the G.C. Foster College in Spanish Town, yesterday.

Reid easily dispatched Matthew-Ann Dawson 11-9, 11-9, 11-6, while White defeated Matthew McNair 11-4, 11-5, 11-8.

Reid, who is a student at the Pembroke Hall Primary, was delighted.

"I feel proud of myself that I have won the competition because it wasn't easy at first to win it," she said.

White was also delighted with his success.

"I am very happy that I have won because at the start of the match I didn't feel like I was going to win," he said.

"I used all my techniques and all the things that my coach taught me during training and it paid off," White added.

The three-day tournament, which ends tomorrow, continues today with the finals of parish competition.
