Two Jamaica umpires for World Netball Champs
Jamaican umpires Dalton Hinds and Sylvester (Chris) are among four Caribbean umpires appointed for next month's World Netball Championship (WNC) in New Zealand.
Anne Marie Dixon, of Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados' Johnson-Hurley are the other Caribbean officials on the panel at the November 10-17 tournament. Johnson-Hurley, who stood in the 2003 WNC final in Kingston and also the 2006 Commonwealth Games Final in Australia, is among the world's most highly respected umpires. Campbell is one of seven officials on the list of 17 set to appear at a WNC for the first time. The others are Nikki Boyd, Kate Wright, Jacqui Jashari and Paula Ferguson from Australia, Alison Cormack and Mandy Nottingham from New Zealand and Scotland's Anne Abraitis. The other umpires on the panel are Sharon Kelly from Australia, Bobbi Brown, Bromwyn Meek, David PalaÕamo and Pauline Sciascia from New Zealand, and South African Maggie Du Plessis. Three Caribbean teams - Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago - are contesting the WNC. Former champions Trinidad and Tobago will compete in Pool B with Australia, Samoa and Scotland, Pool C has World No.3 Jamaica, Fiji, Singapore and Cook Islands, and Barbados are in Pool D with England, South Africa and Malaysia. Pool A has reigning champions New Zealand, Wales, Malawi and Botswana.
