Hi-Pro Family Polo flicks off today

 
The annual Hi-Pro/ICWI Family low-goal polo tournament gets under way this afternoon with seven participating teams.

The competition commences with three quarter-final matches - the Lalors vs the Wates at the Kingston Polo Club, Caymanas Estates, starting at 3:30 p.m., while the Fong-Yees take on the Chins No. 2 team at the St. Ann Polo Club, Drax Hall, starting at 3:30 p.m. and in the second match at 4:30, the Vernons oppose the Chins' No. 1 team.

Meanwhile, the Laings have drawn a bye to Thursday's semi-finals at Drax Hall. The final is scheduled for Saturday.

The composition of the teams is as follows: The Lalors - Dennis Lalor, Paul Lalor, Jason Wates, Sam Wates; the Wates - Ricky Wates, Hamish Wates, Alexander Melville, Joe Azan; the Vernons - Andy Vernon, Ramon Vernon, Rory Vernon, Justine Samuda; the Chins No. 1 team - Paul Chin, Junior Chin, Craig Russell, Christopher Maitland-Walker; the Chins' No. 2 team - Kurt Chin, Shane Chin, Michelle Subaran, Anna Dougall; the Fong-Yees - Steven Fong-Yee, Leslie Ann Fong Yee, John G. Byles, Simon Brown; the Laings - Steven Laing, Adam Laing, Mark Wates, Randy Mair.

The high-goal section will commence the following week with four teams - the Lalors, Chins, Wates and Vernons.

Both competitions were rained out last year.
