Dibbs, Foster head Jamaica's TT squad

Jamaica's table tennis teams for this year's Caribbean Championships left the island yesterday for Trinidad and Tobago to participate in the Senior Championships from July 5-10 and the Junior Championships from July 11-15.

Jamaica will compete in the men's and women's team events and the girls team event.

The men's team will comprise national champion Joseph Dibbs, Peter Moo-Young, Dale Parham and top junior player Emani McPherson of national champion school, Wolmer's Boys. In addition to the usual individual events, Dibbs and Moo-Young will also play in the over-35 singles event, while McPherson will also compete in the under-21 singles.

On the women's side, national champion Yvonne Foster, Kaydian Carney, juniors Andrene Hart of Pembroke Hall Club and Shenique Clare of national champion school, Glenmuir High, comprise the women's team. Foster, Hart and Clare will also compete in the under-21 singles event, in addition to the adult individual events.

The trio, who are all under 18 years old, will also form the girls' team.

Manager for the contingent is national technical director Donald Salmon. Colin McNeish is the team coach while trained umpire Morine Dawson will be the chaperone, in addition to serving as an umpire.

Jamaica had only a men's team in the Senior Champion-ships held last year in Puerto Rico, with Foster making the trip as the lone female for individual events. The men's team placed fifth and Foster won two bronze medals in doubles.
