Johnson anxious for rematch

Jamaican ex-world light heavyweight boxing champion, Glen Johnson, has declared he is anxious to face current Interna-tional Boxing Federation (IBF) title-holder Clinton Woods for a fourth time to avenge the loss he suffered last September to the British fighter.

Fighting at home in Britain, Woods successfully defended his title against Johnson on September 2 last year via a close split decision verdict. Previously, they had battled to a draw in November 2003 and Florida-based Johnson won the rematch in February 2004.

"I have a true dislike for Clinton Woods," Johnson said in an interview with the Boxing Talk website this week. "I have been robbed in my career before, but this guy, he robbed me twice. Clinton Woods has been plaguing my career and I need to put a foot stomp onto this guy," Johnson added.

Johnson is in training for his title eliminator against American Montell Griffin next week Wed-nesday at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena. At stake is a shot at Woods for the IBF belt and Johnson is anxious to get past this hurdle that will take him to Woods.

"This fight is definitely the important fight for me because this is the fight that's going to get me back into the ring with Clinton Woods," Johnson said.

Having faced Woods in Britain all three times they have meet, Johnson is also eager to have Woods be the one to travel this time for the clash.
