N Manley take rugby title

NORMAN MANLEY clinched their third consecutive Sydney Coleman Under-16 High School rugby title with an impressive 20-7 win over Greater Portmore in the final at G.C. Foster College yesterday.

Oshane Edie, Andre O'Connor, Duval Rodney and Andre Simpson all scored tries for Norman Manley. Sean Francis scored a try and converted from the spot for the losers.

Norman Manley led 10-0 at the break and were an even more determined team in the second half.

Satisfied coach

Coach Jason Campbell was satisfied with his team's performance.

"Overall, they stuck to the game plan. We maintained their discipline on the field," Campbell said.

He said Norman Manley's success was due to the tremendous support they received from the school.

"Everything we wanted to perform was provided by the school," he said.

Too much room

Losing coach McKain Hamilton said Norman Manley were a very strong team but were given too much room to play.

"We gave them to much room to work, but I am pleased with my team's performance," Hamilton said.

"The Norman Manley team is a very good one," he said pointing to defence as Greater Portmore's week link.

Hamilton was quick to point out that Norman Manley were the only team to beat them this season. They did it twice.
