DB&G backs Clarendon Chess Open

Dehring, Bunting and Golding, through its May Pen branch, has once again partnered with the Clarendon Chess Association (CCA) and the Jamaica Chess Federation (JCF) to stage the Clarendon Chess Open. This year's staging will take place this weekend, November 11 and 12, at Glenmuir High School in May Pen, Clarendon.

The Clarendon Chess Open is the only tournament on the JCF calendar held exclusively outside of Kingston and St. Andrew. As such, it provides invaluable tournament experience for players from Clarendon and surrounding parishes who are unable to travel on a regular basis to participate in the tournaments held in Kingston and St. Andrew.

The open will be staged over six rounds, three on each day, and will comprise an open section in which any one can play and a novice section for players rated under 1800 or who have not yet attained a rating from the JCF.

Registration begins on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with round one scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. National Master Jomo Pitterson is the two-time defending champion.
