Housekeeping/Laundry take Grand Lido Braco domino title

IN THE most exciting domino match of the Grand Lido Braco Resort and Spa resort's inaugural inter-department domino competition, Housekeeping/Laundry defeated Watersports by one point to lift the title.

Playing to 50 points, pre-tournament favourites Housekeeping/Laundry clawed their way back from the brink of defeat to eclipse their fancied rivals 50-49.

The champions snared the lead at 33-32 and only then did it appear that Watersports would lose after dominating the early going.

Watersports' captain, Richard Hemmings, and his partner, Michael Graham, were enjoying good results against the champions' best pair, Dale Swaby and captain Kevaughn Burrowes, but faltered late in the match.

Earlier, within the first 15 minutes, Watersports raced to impressive leads ? 11-4 and 17-11 before closing the half at 26-19.

Upon resumption, the fortunes shifted as Housekeeping/Laundry claimed the lead by a point. However, Watersports regained the lead and led 44-39 and later 48-44 before Housekeeping launched their final charge to victory.

The resort will now turn its attention to the competitive all-island hotels domino tournament which starts on July 6.
