It's fishing time at Morgan's Harbour

THE SIR HENRY Morgan Angling Association's (SHMAA) team of seaworthy vessels and sober crews will be staging the First S.H.M.A.A. Port Royal Fishing Tournament at Morgan's Harbour Hotel & Marina, June 9 - 11.

An all-for-the-family follow-up to the fun and success of the First-ever SHMAA Junior Angling Tournament held in December 2004 at Morgan's Harbour, the summer 2005 tournament has chairman Ron DuQuesnay, Tournament Cap-tain Greg Lue Tenn and Weigh Master Bobby Case, with their hands full. Radio room and official marina signage are under way to ensure a hiccup-free weekend of enthusiastic, competitive fishing.

Junior anglers, in their sixteenth year or less, and the ever-affectionately termed 'small fry', have been invited to join the 'All-Fish' Competition, where only Barracuda and Shark (except the Mako species), will be beyond the tally of the angler. With no fishing boundaries (beyond the bay neighbouring the Marina will be fair ground), the minimum weight for fish brought in will be five pounds.

Winning Boat Prize

With some 20 boats registered and keen on the event, a 'tag-and-release' guideline will not apply this time round. Taking home the Winning Boat Prize will be the vessel with the Most Fish Weight.

As always, fully outfitted safety harnesses and life vests will be the order of the day.

The official opening ceremony will be held at sundown, 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, June 9. Friday, June 10 will see all boats setting off from Morgan's Harbour at dawn. The prize-giving ceremony for the best of the lot, is set for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11.
