Ruff Riders claim crown

ADELPHI CHIN Ruff Riders Polo Club of Montego Bay captured the Red Stripe Jamaica Polo Association Keeling Cup Championship when they defeated the Wates Panderosa team of St. Catherine 5-3 at the St. Ann Polo Club at Drax Hall at the weekend.

The winning team, comprising national captain, Shane Chin, his brother Paul Chin, their father Junior Chin and Cuba-based
player Brian Joseph Phillips, was in a no-nonsense mood and proved too much for its opponent.

Paul Chin scored two spectacular goals while Shane also scored twice and Phillips got the other goal in fine style. Jeremy 'Yahama' Cooper scored all three goals for the losers.

Wates Panderosa played well but the rough surface upset heir game and forced them to surrender their early lead. Panderosa led 1-0 in the first chukka and 2-0 in the second chukka but Adelphi Chin stormed back to take a 4-2 lead in the third chukka and ended the final chukka leading by five goals to three.

Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the Densham Cup will take place tomorrow at the St. Ann Polo Club at Drax Hall starting at 3:30 p.m.
