Red Blazer tourney tees off tomorrow
The 13th annual Red Blazer Golf tournament will tee off tomorrow at the Constant Spring Golf Club.
The event is sanctioned by the Jamaica Golf Association and will be competed in a 7/8th Stableford format in three flights. Main sponsors include Grace Blends, Johnnie Walker and National Commercial Bank. Tournament Chairman Wayne Wray, in commenting on the event, noted that over the years, the tournament proceeds have assisted with various projects. These include the Shortwood Basic School and the Maxfield Park Childrens' home where a green-house was recently established, allowing young entrepreneurs plant and sell their own produce as a means of assisting themselves. These activities complement the Lodge's commitment to aiding the development of young men. This year, the Liguanea Lodge 1479 will have a direct impact on the National Junior Golf team through promotion of fund-raising events. These include an all-you-can-eat Lyme which kicks off at 5 p.m. today at the Constant Spring Golf Club. The evening will be billed as 'Grilling by the Greens'. Supporters will be invited to watch their favourite local golfers display their grilling skills. Support is being provided by Diageo and Grace Foods. The Constant Spring Golf club is also co-sponsorng in hosting this exciting event. The proceeds will assist in sending Jamaica's Junior Golf Team to the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships in the Bahamas from August 3-8.
