Chatrie out for two days

The stewards of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Tuesday imposed a two-day ban on hot apprentice Aaron Chatrie for careless riding aboard the winning horse NATURALLY ROYAL in the sixth race at Caymanas Park on Saturday, July 10.

He was penalised for causing multiple interference in the 1200-metre race for high claimers. NATURALLY ROYAL caused interference to BIG BARGAIN, GRACE MARIE and THE BEST MAN approaching the 900-metre point.

Chatrie's suspension takes effect on Saturday, July 31, meaning he will miss that day as well as the Emancipation Day race meet on Monday, August 2. He will return to the saddle on Friday, August 6 (Independence Day). Chatrie is second in the current jockeys' standings with 41 winners - 17 adrift of champion and leading jockey Omar Walker.

In the same race, jockey Richard Mitchell, who rode THE BEST MAN, was severely cautioned for the interference caused to GRACE MARIE approaching the 700-metre point, while apprentice Jevvanne Erwin aboard BIG BARGAIN was also severely cautioned for interfering with GRACE MARIE approaching the 700-metre point.

Female apprentice Georgina Sergeon, who rode the winning horse MR. SKILL in the ninth race on Wednesday, July 14, was also severely cautioned for the interference caused to COMMANDER ZERO shortly after the start. MR SKILL survived a stewards' inquiry after beating stable-companion COMMANDER ZERO by three-quarter length in the open allowance sprint in question.

Cautioned

On July 10 in the ninth race, Sergeon aboard SUPER TROOPER was again cautioned for the interference caused to ROYAL SWEETNESS, ROYAL NAVY, MODERN DANCER, REVELATION and highly fancied ENGLISH CONNECTION shortly after the start of the ninth race over the straight.

Apprentice Richard Cole, who rode REGGAE ROCK in the eighth race on Saturday, July 17, was suspended for two racedays for the interference caused to SHE'S MAGIC approaching the 400-metre point. His suspension commences on Saturday, July 31.
