Waite awaits physical JDF battle

An epic battle is expected when third-place Constant Spring host fifth-place Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) in today's feature match in the Kingston St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Claro Super League at the Spring Complex, starting at 3 p.m.

Norado Prawl's 47th-minute strike gave Constant Spring (16 points) a 1-0 road win against Bull Bay (eight) last week. The win saw them move up a place, while the JDF (15) slipped two places after they played to a 0-0 draw at home with bottom-place Meadhaven United (two).

Going into the ninth round, Constant Spring are yet to taste defeat, having won four of their games and drawn four.

The JDF has suffered only one defeat and have gone unbeaten in their last six matches, averaging a goal a game while conceding four. Constant Spring have also conceded four goals, but they have scored 11.

Aggressive

Constant Spring's coach, Jerome Waite, said: "The JDF is a very physical team over the years and tends to be aggressive, but we have definitely prepared ourselves to collect three points at home because we have to ensure that if we don't take the lead at the end of the 90 minutes, we are still a point behind the leader."

Coach of the JDF, Staff Sergent Owen Nelson, said: "Our approach will be to play our natural game with the kind of concentration that is needed to beat Constant Spring," Nelson said. "They (Constant Spring) play the kind of game that the JDF relish because I know that they won't be coming at us, therefore, we will get to pass around the ball."
