Gayle named WI captain

Bridgetown, Barbados: The Gleaner has been reliably informed that Chris Gayle has been selected to captain the West Indies cricket team for the Caribbean team's tour to Australia in two weeks time.

According to the source, Gayle was recommended for the post by the selectors and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) ratified the decision late yesterday evening.

The rest of the team was also scheduled to be named last night and will be ratified today by the WICB.

The West Indies will play three Tests against the world champions and will leave for the tour Down Under on November 9.
