Creary smacks 50

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

André Creary and Kraigg Brathwaite were again among the runs on Monday as the second President's Cup practice match for the West Indies Under-19 team ended at the Police ground in a victory for Yannick Ottley's XI against the Dalton Polius XI.

On a slow track giving assistance to the spinners, the exciting Creary, who made an unbeaten 91 in the first practice match on Sunday, hit three fours and two sixes in an unbeaten 50 as Polius' XI were bowled out for 183 off the final ball of the 40th over, as spinner Yannick Carriah took four for 30.

Braithwaite followed up his first-match 48 with a knock of 56 and along with John Campbell (54) added 121 for the first wicket before they were both asked to retire as Ottley's team reached 184 for five in the 36th over for the easy win.

Braithwaite and Campbell batted solidly in their century partnership before they were both 'called in' by coaches André Coley and Hubern Evans. Braithwaite, who again batted responsibly, used his feet to hit a rare six off Harty and faced 76 balls for his 56, while Campbell's 54 lasted 70 balls.

Homeboy Trevon Griffith smashed five fours and a six in a scintillating 54-ball 49, before he gifted his wicket with a scoop-sweep off spinner Jermaine Blackwood, which lobbed for the slip fielder to catch.

Wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich looked accomplished in his unbeaten 44 from 25 balls with two fours in his team's final practice before their opening WICB President's Cup match against Barbados today at Bourda.
