C'est Moi all the way

Orville Clarke, Gleaner Writer

With the horses having run true to form at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, both the Pick-9 and Super-6 start anew with guaranteed minimums of $1 million and $750,0000, respectively.

There were 11 winners of the Pick-9, each receiving $121,835.00. The Pick-9 will embrace all nine races on the card, while the Super-6 will be conducted from race four to nine.

We look at the Super-6 which gets under way with a maiden condition race for native bred three-year-olds in which the free running TWIST OF FATE and FIRE DRAGON have reliable form in the eight-strong field.

With nothing to extend him on the lead, the Anthony Nunes-trained TWIST OF FATE (Shane Ellis up) should use his superior speed to full advantage and stave off the stretch running FIRE DRAGON.

DIESEL truly impressed when scoring over the straight five course by all of 12 lengths from subsequent winner PURE JUSTICE on April 4 and the eight-year-old gelding looks hard to oppose in the second race, again over the straight .

Maiden four-year-olds

The free-running ESCAPE THE FATE has done enough in previous races to win the sixth race over 1500 metres for maiden four-year-olds and up. He has been administered Lasix for the first time and following his close second to COLORADO BELLE over 1400 metres recently, should go all the way in the 10-strong field.

The seventh race (non-winners of two) over 1100 metres should see JAMMING, ENDURING, BACK AT YOU and PROSPECT QUE in contention where it matters.

JAMMING was a fast-finishing second to CAT-UD-RAY over the distance on April 13, while ENDURING was just over a length behind him in third. It should be real close between them, but ENDURING, now assured of stronger handling from Andre Martin, should turn the tables.

The fleet-footed filly C'EST MOI should take a lot of catching in the eighth race over 1100 metres, despite the presence of SKIPPING SUE, COURT YARD and the recent winner HIGH SOCIETY.

The ninth and final race for the Henry George Harrison Sr Memorial Cup over 1300 metres, race No. 3 in the Track Price Plus Dig Out Handicap, is undoubtedly the most difficult on the card with the likes of I AM I AM, MORE THAN READY, MAHARANI, PRINCESS PARADISE, CHARLIE CHAPLAIN, BIG BARGAIN, POINT AND CLICK and RUNE all in with chances.

I AM I AM caught the eye when a fast-finishing second to CENTANNI over the straight five course last Saturday and with the trip more to his liking, gets the nod over PRINCESS PARADISE and MORE THAN READY.

Significantly, the latter is trained by Henry Harrison Jr, the son of the man in whose memory the race is being run.
