Cricketers uncertain about their investment

At least two, and maybe as many as seven, regional cricketers were left worried yesterday after investing a portion of their US$1 million prize money from the Stanford Twenty20 match against England into entities in Texas billionaire Allen Stanford's group of companies.

Up to late last night there was no word on the names of the players but reports out of Antigua say two are in the current team attempting to avoid defeat in the third test at the Antigua Recreation Ground.

West Indies captain Chris Gayle, Jerome Taylor and Daren Powell are the three Jamaicans who were members of the team which beat England in the one-off match last October.

In the meantime, entities in the Stanford Group are bracing for a run today, following news that the billionaire had been charged with fraud.
