Portmore Cricket League final tomorrow

Colours International and Portsmouth meet tomorrow in the final of the Petcom/MegaMart Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League at Ken's Wildflower sports ground.

Colours International, in their semi-final, beat arch-rivals and dethroned champions Ken's Wildflower by 48 runs, while Portsmouth defeated MegaMart Development Squad by six wickets.

Former West Indies players Wavell Hinds and David Bernard Jr will form the backbone of Portsmouth's batting, while Akeem Dyer and Roland Henry should offer good support.

Kemar Marshall and Richard Johnson, who scored half-centuries in the semi-finals, along with David Morgan and Kerry Scott, are the in-form players for Colours International.

Wins for Donnington and Oracabessa

Oracabessa and Goshen came away football winners at the JBB complex as action continued in the James Bond Beach-sponsored Primary School Championships.

In the first match, Oracabessa defeated Ramble 4-1. Kasheim Hinds, Jordaine Mitchell, Robert Ramgeet and an own goal, accounted for the winners' goals.

In the day's second game, Donnington defeated Goshen 2-1 in extra time.

Jannoy Nelson scored both goals for the winners.

On the netball court, Albion Mountain Primary came away with an exciting 7-5 win over Ramble while defending champions Goshen beat Donnington 8-3.

Five teams unbeaten in Portmore domino

After four rounds of matches in the CTL Portmore/St Catherine domino league, five teams remain unbeaten. They are defending champions Caribbean Classic, Eradication, Eagle View, Fort International and Ackee Pod, all with 16 points from four matches. Results of other matches played on Sunday are as follows: Marlie Mount defeated Hurricane 300-272 in a notable upset, Caribbean Classic defeated New Look 300-261, Eradication stopped High Roller 300-261, Eagle View clipped Masterpiece 300-293, Fort International beat Right Stuff 300-268 and Ackee Pod crushed Old Harbour Bay 300-220 in an away match. Seamaster defeated Garveymeade in a home match which saw Garveymeade throwing in the towel in the latter stages. Prozz and Conzz whipped Lime Tree 300-221, Correctional Services clipped ISCF 300-295 at Prison Oval, while the match between Colour Sports Club and Westchester ended prematurely owing to a dispute in the latter stages. Colours were leading narrowly, 252-248, when the match was curtailed. The Jamaica Domino Federation will make a ruling on this match shortly. The competition continues tomorrow with the usual 11 matches starting at 11:00 a.m.

MultiCare netball winners

Kingston High, Dunoon Technical and Norman Gardens topped the MultiCare Inter-Schools netball competitions, which ended recently at the MultiCare Breezy Castle sports complex.

In the 13-15 category, champions Kingston High School beat Braeton Primary and Junior High 3-1 in the final. Windward Road Primary and Junior High took third place, while Calabar Primary and Junior High finished fourth.

Dunoon Technical High School topped the 16-18 category 6-5 over Kingston High School. Kingston Technical finished third while Greater Portmore High were fourth.

Norman Gardens Primary and Junior High took the 10-12 category after defeating Greater Portmore Primary 2-0. Harbour View Primary and Holy Family Primary were third and fourth, respectively.

Friendship win netball title

Friendship Primary won the Institute of Sports/St Catherine Primary Schools netball league following a 22-15 triumph over Ginger Ridge in the final at the G.C. Foster College gymnasium recently.

Friendship defeated Ascot 33-0 in the semi-finals while Ginger Ridge eliminated defending champions Cedar Grove 25-14.

At the end of the match, Institute of Sports officers for St Catherine, Andrea Hanson and Elaine Walker-Brown, handed over the winning trophy to a jubilant Friendship team.

Portmore Division Two football

Neighbours Christian Pen and Caymanas Gardens Site D play each other in the feature match of the E-Services Group International-sponsored Portmore Division Two Football League at Watson Grove tomorrow, game time is 3 p.m.

Christian Pen won their first match, 3-1, over Daytona last Sunday, while Caymanas Gardens clipped Garveymeade 2-1 the week before. In the opening match at the venue tomorrow, Watson Grove host Racing United at 1 p.m. In other games, Hellshire United, fresh from their 3-1 win over Wanderers, welcome Garveymeade in a 3 p.m. match in Helllshire while a double-header at Greater Portmore pits Portmore Pines against Greater Portmore at 1 p.m. and Wanderers against Braeton United at 3 p.m.

Pembroke Hall victorious

Defending champions Pembroke Hall clipped newcomers Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) 3-2 in a lone Division Two match played on Tuesday night in the Jamaica Table Tennis Association (JTTA)/Northwest Development club league.

In individual results, Richardo Lee crushed Glenroy Williams 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 (3-0), Kevin Nelson trounced Lynton Young 11-9, 12-10, 11-6 (3-0) and Clive Johnson overpowered Williams 11-5, 11-9, 11-6 (3-0) for Pembroke Hall's three victories.

Former national junior player Alphanso Murray, a member of Jamaica's team that won the 2000 Junior Caribbean Championships, is becoming active again and won the two consolation matches for BOJ. He eased past Johnson 12-10, 11-3, 11-6 (3-0) and cruised by Lee 11-3, 11-9, 11-9 (3-0).

Harbour View Masters training

The Harbour View FC Masters will conduct a training session this morning at 6:30 at the Harbour View stadium.

All past, present and prospective Harbour View Football Club Masters players are encouraged to attend and spread the word.

Surfing at beach in Port Royal

National Under-18 champion Shane Simmonds seeks to keep the pressure on series leader Icah Wilmot when the fourth event of the Jamaica Surfing Association's National Open Series continues this morning at 9 at the Plumb Point Lighthouse beach in Port Royal.

Icah Wilmot currently leads the points race with 2,860 points. Luke Williams with 2,260 points and Ackeam Phillips with 2,085 are within striking distance of Icah's lead and look strong.

In the ladies' division, Icah's sister, Imani Wilmot, with 2,590 points, is holding off strong challenges from Elim Beckford (2,450) and Danielle Ohayon (2,000). With small surf predicted today, the advantage will be with the lighter quicker surfers who can take advantage of the smaller, weaker waves.

Bejon's, Gold Club are early leaders

Bejon's joined Gold Club atop the standings in the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) Community domino competition after beating Betta Price 300-297 at Penwood Road as round five was completed on Sunday.

Lyn's United stayed in the hunt for a semi-final berth when they were awarded maximum points because Small World could not field a team at 65A Maxfield Avenue.

At Canewood Crescent, bottom club Camouflage showed its true colours, or lack thereof, losing 300-279 to Sour Sop Strikers, who registered their first win of the competition.

The match between Gold Club, on 30 points, and Almond Tree has been rescheduled, with a new date yet to be decided.

Bicycle Bash in St Mary

James Bond Beach will host Jamaica's Bicycle Bash on February 15.

Dubbed 'A Celebration of Jamaican Bicycling Culture', the Jamaica Bicycle Bash is designed to provide an outlet for riders to show off their skills and unique bicycle creations.

Entry will be $100 with a bicycle and $200 without.

The Jamaica Bicycle Bash is a non-profit event and proceeds from the event will go towards the St Mary Off-Road Bicycling Association's 'Bicycling Works!' project which is seeking to open up mountain biking opportunities for youths in the parish.
