Jamaican Women crash out of 4 x 100M relay

The Jamaican dominance on the track took a blow today as they failed to get the baton around. The Jamaican team failed to defend their title won at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004 with a poor baton change between Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart.

The Jamaica team of Shelly-Ann Fraser, Sherone Simpson, Veroncia Campbell Brown and Kerron Stewart ,running in that order, were expected to bring home the gold easily but it was not to be. The Jamaica team suffered the same fate as the USA.

For Jamaica, it was not to be as the Russians ran away with the victory in 42.31 much slower than 42.24 the second-string Jamaican team did in the semi-finals. The Belgians 42.54 and Nigeria 43.04 finished second and third respectively.
