CTL domino finals at Caymanas Park

Defending champions Hurricane and Caribbean Classic will contest the finals of the CTL-sponsored Portmore/St. Catherine domino at Caymanas Park tomorrow starting at 11:00 a.m.

The winning team will receive $130,000 and championship trophy, and the runners-up $80,000. Hurricane from Dunbeholden advanced to the finals following their 300-283 win over the highly-touted Eradication in one semi-final at Caymanas Park on May 4. Preseason favourites Caribbean Classic from Portmore Lane crushed Old Harbour United 300-249 in the other semi-finals at Caymanas.

The third-place playoff between Eradication and Old Harbour United will also be played tomorrow at Caymanas Park. The winner of this match will receive $50,000 and the losers $30,000. In their only meeting on March 9 at Portmore Lane, Caribbean Classic defeated Hurricane 300-280.

Wray & Nephew skittles

Defending champions Rowe's Strikers defeated Cherry's Strikers 7-4 in the feature third-round skittles match last Sunday of the Wray & Nephew Premier League played at Mister C Sports Bar in Spanish Town.

Rebounding from their narrow loss to Dragon in the previous match, Rowe's Strikers started off on the right foot when opener Anthony Barrett scored an effortless win over Robert Chang.

Karyl 'Chassy' Walker then made it 2-0 after outplaying Robert 'Rapid Fire' Bogle 800-520, before Rowe's fought back to level the scores at 2-2, thanks to wins by Ian Bryan and female player Cheryl Donaldson. Although Basil Kelly sent Cherry's into the lead after putting away Everald 'Slicer' McPherson, Rowe's Strikers were not to be denied as Winston 'Jubbie' Nivens, Roy Facey, who beat the reigning singles champion Robert 'World Man' McKen 1430-540, Donovan Ashman and Alphanso ensured victory for Rowe's Strikers.

In another Premier League match last Sunday, defending Pattex Cup champions Meadowvale defeated Mystix 7-4 at Fisher's Place, 52 Lyndhurst Road, while Walthan Strikers maintained their unbeaten run in the Major League with a 7-4 victory over Olympic Strikers. Newcomers Mercury beat Mister C 8-3 in the 'Spanish Town' derby.

BH football dress parade today

The annual KSAFA Business House football competition kicks off today with the dress parade and opening match at the Cable & Wireless Sports Club starting at 1:00 p.m.

For the first time in its history, the competition has attracted two new sponsors - Western Sports Limited who will sponsor both the Division One and Two leagues to the tune of $500,000, while Scotiabank will sponsor the knockout competition.

Today's opening matches will see GraceKennedy vs Jamaica National in Division Two action at 2:00 p.m. followed at 4 p.m. by the Division One match between the Scotia Group and National Housing Trust.

Among the nine Division One teams are former champions Gleaner, Carib Cement and National Water Commission. Notable absentees this year are defending champions Port Authority. Eight teams will contest Division Two.

KSAFA/Shipping Under-15 football

The 2007/2008 Shipping Industry of Jamaica/KSAFA Under-15 football competition for the Winston Chung Fah Trophy continued on Thursday with three matches.

Pembroke Hall defeated Molynes United 2-0, Cooreville Gardens and Cavalier played to a 1-1 draw, while Santos were held to a goalless draw by Harbour View.

Naggo Head, Greater Portmore clash

Defending champions Naggo Head and Greater Portmore clash at the Naggo Head playing field tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., highlighting this week's round of matches in the Senator Arthur Williams-sponsored Portmore U-15 Football League.In other games, Wanderers face Portmore Pines in a 3:30 p.m. feature match at the same venue; at Portsmouth, Waterford will feel the heat from Independence City in a 1:30 p.m. encounter, while in the feature match at the venue, homesters Portsmouth square off with Braeton United at 3:30 p.m.

At Watson Grove, Daytona play in the opening match at 1:30 p.m. and Watson Grove entertain Hellshire United at 3:30 p.m.

In games last Sunday, Naggo Head crushed Hellshire United 7-0, Portmore Pines clipped Braeton United 1-0, Independence City and Portsmouth drew 1-1, Rodwood edged Watson Grove 2-1 and Wanderers pipped Cumberland 3-2.

Alliance Investment Western under-11 tennis

One hundred and two boys and girls took to the courts earlier this week at the Aqua Sol Theme Park in MoBay to battle for top honours in the Western regional finals of the Alliance Investment Management's national under 11 and progressive tennis programme. It attracted 62 boys and 40 girls.

In the boys' category, Antonio Aldo of St. James Prep outclassed Martez Kerr also of James Prep by a whopping 8-0 scoreline.

Shea-Ann Kameka of Chetwood Primary and Shaddee Findley of Supreme Prep had an intense battle in the finals with Kameka squeezing home 8-7.

The competition will now focus on the national finals to be held on Tuesday, May 27 at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre in Kingston.

Insports/JN Moneynetball semi-finals

Determine Strikers, Papine/U-TECH, Eden Gardens and Delmax are through to the semi-finals of the 2008 INSPORTS/Jamaica National Money Transfer Community netball league tomorrow at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting at 2:00 p.m.

Determine Strikers will face Papine/U-TECH while Eden Gardens take on Delmax. The winners will meet in the final at 4:30 p.m. The losers will play off for third and fourth places respectively.

In quarter-final action, Delmax defeated Young Stars 26-22, Determine Strikers beat Diamond Youth 34-20, Eden Strikers stopped Rollington Town 19-12 and Papine/U-TECH beat defending champions Alexander Strikers.
