# Carib 'cement' title

Carib Cement defeated Wisynco Group 1-0 to win the 2008 Kingston & St Andrew Business House one-day five-a-side football rally and the Pronto Porridge Mix Trophy, sponsored by Seprod Limited, last weekend at the NWC playing field, Mona.

Sixteen teams took part, including defending champion NCB, who were knocked out by Unicomer (Jamaica) Ltd (formerly Courts) in the quarter-finals. The other six quarter-finalists were Carib Cement, Wisynco, Supreme Ventures, GraceKennedy, NWC and Petrojam.

In one semi-final, Carib Cement defeated Supreme Ventures 2-1, while Wisynco defeated Unicomer 3-0 to advance to the final. Both teams had earlier met in the preliminary round, with Carib Cement coming out 1-0 victors. The final was a closely contested affair with Carib Cement prevailing again 1-0 as Marcus McDonald scored in the 20th minute. Arnett Gardens' goalkeeper Julian McLeish, of Wisynco, was outstanding as he prevented the margin of victory from being larger with some spectacular saves. The league competition kicks off on May 17 with the traditional dress parade at 2:00 p.m., followed by the opening Division One game between Scotia Group and National Housing Trust at 4:00 pm at the Cable & Wireless Sports Club.

# West Portland 20/20

Action in the West Portland 20/20 community cricket tournament continues tomorrow with 10 matches across the parish.

Sunshine take on Portland Masters at Chester (10:30 a.m.); Kensington face Fourth Generation at Caenwood (2:00); Balcares entertain Bourban at Charles Town (10:30); Chetworth tackle Spring Hill at Charles (2:00) and Oneaissance play Rock Hall at Caenwood (10:30).

Over in Zone Two, it's Black Hill versus Police Youth at Skibo Oval (10:30); West Port Senior play Swift River at Swift River (10:30); Orange Bay versus Cherly Castle at Swift River (2:00); West Port Masters play Shewsberry at Skibo (2:00) and Chepstowe Sports Club face St George's at Chepstowe (2:00).

Last week, Bourban 133 beat Chetworth 112; Swift River 98 for 3 off 15 overs beat Black Hill 72 all out by 26 runs. All other matches were rained out.

# Hotel domino

Unbeaten Tryall hotel defeated newcomers Iberostar Rose Hall Beach 150-139 in recent action from the Western Hotels Sports Association's All-island hotels domino competition. In the process, Tryall earned a berth in the quarter-finals of the competition with a match in hand. The loss by Iberostar effectively eliminates them from advancing, even if they win their final match.

Grand Lido Negril Resort and Spa gained a walkover win in a home match against the Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Limited - Negril Branch who failed to honour their fixture, while vastly-improved Starfish Trelawny beat sister property Breezes Montego Bay 150-142. Sunset Jamaica Grande gained valuable points without even posing a domino when newcomers Gran Bahia Principe did not turn up for their match in Ocho Rios. This has improved their chances of advancing to the quarter-finals as one of the best third-placed teams.

# Greater Portmore top MultiCare Champs

Greater Portmore High School topped the 2008 MultiCare track and field championships which ended at G.C. Foster College on Wednesday.

Greater Portmore scored 155 points to beat Windward Road Primary and Junior High (133) and Calabar Primary and Junior High (132).

Also scoring points were: Ascot High School (89), Kingston Technical High (89), Waterford High (73.50), Dunoon Technical (52), Braeton Primary and Junior High (52), Duhaney Park Primary (50), Kingston High (43.50), Donald Quarrie High (43), Haile Selassie High (36), Denham Town High (28), Harbour View Primary (27), DuPont Primary (19), Franklin Town Primary (19), Balcombe Drive Primary and Junior High (19), Norman Gardens Primary and Junior High (18), Kensington Primary (10), St Jude's Primary (seven), Tarrant Primary (four), Whitfield Town Primary and Junior High (three), Ascot Primary (three) and Holy Rosary Primary (one).

# Labyrinth triumph over Gayle in primary championships

Labyrinth Primary registered a 4-2 come-from-behind win over Gayle Primary to chalk up their third win in as many matches in the IST-sponsored Primary Championships played at Eden Park Sports Complex in Jacks River, St Mary, recently.

A double strike from captain Shanique Dennis in the 10th and fourth minutes gave Gayle a 2-0 half-time lead.

However, Labyrinth quickly rebounded upon the resumption as Kayja Hinds pulled a goal back within the first minute. Labyrinth steadily asserted themselves and Rociana Butter equalised in the 35th minute before Sanceca Wescarth scored in the 40th and 50th minutes to win the game for the Labyrinth girls.
