White leading Jamaica U-16s to Antigua

kingston, jamaica (cmc)

Samantha White has been appointed captain of Jamaica's national junior netball team travelling this week to defend their Caribbean Netball Association (CNA) Under-16 title in Antigua and Barbuda.

White is the only returning member of the squad that captured the regional Jean Pierre Under-16 crown for the sixth time when the tournament was last played - December 2006 in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Jamaicans have won six of the seven CNA U-16 tournaments they have contested, the only blemish being their 2005 upset loss to Barbados, which they avenged a year later.

The tournament is slated for April 4-11, with nine teams entered to compete in two groups.

Home team Antigua and Barbuda will play in Group 1 with Jamaica, Montserrat, Dominica and Trinidad and Tobago, while Group 2 has two ex-champions Barbados and St Vincent and the Grenadines, being joined by Grenada and St Lucia.

SQUAD - Samantha White (captain), Deneen Taylor, Brittni Bent, Candice Bryan, Shantelle Campbell, Shanique Miller, Shanique Miller, Marvadean Anderson, Alana Chambers, Shereesha Richards, Vangelee Williams, Ashley Henry and Shanice Lee.
