Walker's spectacle gives Harbour View win

MIDFIELDER Waheem Walker last night scored a beauty of a bicycle kick, from 16 yards out on the left side of goal, to hand defending champions Harbour View a 1-0 home win over mid-table rivals Waterhouse in their Cash Plus Premier League clash at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.

The victory was a crucial one for Harbour View, who are struggling to revive their hopes of retaining their title, as they leapfrogged Waterhouse to grab fourth spot in the table on 43 points, still some way off leaders Portmore and Tivoli, tied on 56 apiece.

Waterhouse were pushed down to fifth on 42 points but well clear of sixth-place Sporting Central on 37.

Peach of a goal

Walker's peach of a goal gave Maurice Evans no chance. Damion Williams' headed clearance off a corner appeared headed for safety before the dreadlocked midfielder acrobatically found the back of the net.

Evans could only watch, caught flat-footed on his line as the ball swished across him and lodged inside his far post.

Waterhouse were crudely denied an equaliser by the upright six minutes later when striker Newton Sterling's long-range free kick careened off the post and fell for Marco McDonald, who sent a shot whistling across goal but inches wide of the woodwork.

However, Sterling had no excuses in the 80th minute, missing what should have been the equaliser from 12 yards, dragging his shot wide of the mark.

With three games left in the third round before the final five games are played in the decisive fourth round, both Harbour View and Waterhouse have a mountain to climb to catch the leaders.

Portmore, who lead Tivoli by a massive goal difference, face hot Village this afternoon at the Elliston Wakeland Centre in Trelawny, starting at 3:30.
