Eagle View eyes Domino trophy
By Orville Clarke, Portmore Star Writer
EAGLE VIEW became sole leaders of the Caymanas Track Limited (CTL)-sponsored Portmore/St. Catherine domino league last Sunday when they defeated Ken's Wildflower 300-258 at home to top the standings with maximum 20 points. They are one ahead of last year's beaten finalists, Eradication, with 19 points. Eradication and Old Harbour United played to an exciting 299 tie in Old Harbour. Seamaster and ISCF also played to a 299 draw at Back Road, while Ackee Pod defeated High Roller 300-246 at Garveymeade Sports Club. In other matches played last Sunday, JUTC beat Masterpiece 300-290 at Newland, Fort International stopped Prozz and Cons 300-283 in Old Harbour, Right Stuff beat Correctional Services 300-282 at Prison Oval, while Village Link drubbed Marliemount 300-179 at Thompson Pen, as the losers threw in the towel before the end of the match. Two of the 10 matches played last Sunday were curtailed by power outages. This affected the matches between New Look and, defending champions, Hurricane at Lakes Pen with Hurricane leading and between Lime Tree and Caribbean Classic at Lime Tree Grove, with Classic leading at the time of the power cut. Both matches have been rescheduled. The competition continues tomorrow with nine of the scheduled 10 matches starting at 11:30 a.m. These are Hurricane vs Seamaster at Dunbeholden, Eagle View vs ISCF, Marliemount vs Ken's Wildflower in Old Harbour, Right Stuff vs Ackee Pod at Cedar Grove Road, Lime Tree vs New Look, Fort International vs Correctional Services at Passagefort, Eradication vs JUTC at Gregory Park, Caribbean Classic vs Village Link at Portmore Lane and High Roller vs Old Harbour United. Home teams are named first. The match between home team Masterpiece and Prozz and Cons has been postponed, owing to the death of the Masterpiece club president.
