Kingston College (KC) march over Kingston High

Anthony Foster, Freelance Writer

KINGSTON COLLEGE (KC) marched into the second round of the ISSA/ Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup yesterday with a 4-0 win over Kingston High at Cloverly Park.

KC' s victory was set up by a brace from Kamal Afflick. The wily forward struck in the 52nd and 65th minutes. Christopher Allen gave KC the lead in the 28th minute. An own goal in the 32nd minute also contributed to the tally.

In a lacklustre first half, neither team looked as if they understood the objective of the game as, while KC were kicking high and wide, Kingston High had problems getting the ball out of their area.

Main culprit

Christopher Harrison was the main culprit for KC as in the 22nd minute he got away from his markers but, with only goalkeeper Horace Tulloch to beat, he kicked wide from inside the six-yard box.

Seven minutes later, Allen gave the fair-sized crowd something to cheer about when he fired KC into the lead from a rebounded ball which Tulloch made a mess of on his goalline.

Again, the second goal was due to poor goalkeeping as Tulloch dived to his left as the ball, which was deflected off a defender, rolled over his hand and into the goal.

In the second half, Afflick emerged as the game's hero as he scored twice. The first goal was a left-sided shot from the top of the 18-yard box and the second was from a right-sided cross which he tipped in to complete the scoring.
