St. Joseph, the defending Portmore/St. Catherine Division I domino league champions, won the Jamaica Domino Federation's Club KO competition last Sunday when they defeated high riding Caribbean Classic 30-22 in the final before a large crowd at Caymanas Park.
Although unbeaten in 14 matches in the league this season, Caribbean Classic proved no match for St. Joseph who once again underlined their knack for winning finals.
St. Joseph, currently lying fourth in the league, led from start to finish. They quickly raced into a 14-3 lead over 'Classic' and proceeded to win convincingly, capturing the $10,000 first prize.
Caribbean Classic picked up $4,000 for placing second in the one-day competition which attracted 12 teams. Among the no-shows were Fort International who are second in the league with 13 wins from 14 matches.
Following the one-week break to accommodate the KO competition, the league resumes tomorrow with the usual 11 matches, starting at 11:30 a.m.
The feature 15th round match pits cup holders St. Joseph against Night Shift in a home match at Old Braeton.
