VAUXHALL VULTURES and Duhaney Park Sharks will contest the inaugural Jamaica Rugby League Premiership grand final today at 7:00p.m., at the Old Sherwin Williams Stadium in Duhaney Park.

Already crowned champ-ions of the league play, today will give the Vultures an excellent opportunity to make a clean sweep of all the inaugural season's top honours.

FAVOURITES

In fact, they are favourites as the combination of bulkiness, pace and tough tackling which has pretty much been their signature for most of the season, has proved very hard to stop.

In Duhaney Park Sharks they will face very familiar rivals. The Sharks will still be smarting from a 20-point defeat from the Vultures, which not only prevented them from winning the league, but allowed the Vultures to do so on goal difference.

With the loss still fresh in their minds they will be keen on spoiling a possible sweep for the Windward Road team, while setting themselves up to grab their first piece of silverware for the season.

If there is a team that is capable of doing so it is the Sharks, and though perhaps not as quick as the Vultures overall, they have plenty of size which should enable them to cope with the Vauxhall front line.

JDF DENIED

On the Vultures' route to the finals, they had to outlast a determined Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) in the semis, which had finished second in the league. The JDF came back from a 14-point half deficit, only to be denied by the heroics of Hector Bourne who forced his way over the line to give Vauxhall a 24-14 victory.

Having failed to advance to the finals based on the loss to the Vultures, the JDF team would look to cause problems for the Sharks but in a very keenly contested game Duhaney Park would prevail by a single point to set up today's encounter.
