Intrepid leads way into the final day

TODAY IS the final fishing day of the 42nd Wray and Nephew-sponsored Port Antonio International Marlin tournament and the vessel Intrepid goes into it leading all others with four marlin tagged and released.

A slow day on the sea - compared to the blistering 30-marlin-tagged pace set on the first two days - saw only four caught and released in yesterday's action.

White Diamond brought themselves into contention when they were among those who tagged a single marlin yesterday. Added to their previous two-day tally, they now stand on three, this sees them now tied in second place with The Shooter and Prospect II.

It has been a tough couple of days for the defending champions Safe Passage as after a two marlin haul on the first day, they have failed to add anything to their tally since.

This leaves them tied with Mystic Man, Tassy Wassy, White Diamond, Daddy's Dream and Rhapsody.

Boats that have caught only one marlin so far include No Problem, Precious Cargo, Diana, Speculation, No Name, Spare Time, Prestige, Audip and Frig It.

So far this competition no boat has been able to take a marlin back to scale as they have all been below the 300-pound requirement.

Yesterday's results bring the total amount of marlin caught to 34 which is already more than the entire tournament last year. The anglers final quest for victory begins this morning at 7:00.
