Leaders Humble Lions will face August Town in today's top-of-the-table clash in the Digicel Premier League (DPL) play-offs at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Bowl, starting at 4 p.m.

In the other game, Wadadah, who are on four points, can strengthen their hopes with a victory over bottom-place Brazil (one point) at Drax Hall in St Ann.

The Clarendon-based Humble Lions lead the standings with eight points, one ahead of August Town. A win for either team will see them qualifying for the DPL next season.

Both teams played to an exciting 1-1 draw in their opening-round fixture in Clarendon.

"We are going up against a good team and so I am just asking my team to be very patient and to play a tactical and disciplined game," said Anthony Pringle, Humble Lions' coach.

"I believe that once we can do this, then we should be able to get the points we need to qualify for the Premier League next season.

"The players are confident because we have not lost a game on the road in these play-offs and want to make sure that we keep this record intact tomorrow (today) against August Town," said Pringle, whose team is the only one yet to taste defeat in the elimination series.

"We don't have any fear going up against them at home, but respect them a lot, and we know that this is going to be a very exciting game to watch between two good teams," Pringle remarked.

Kevin Mighty and Damion Barrett will lead Humble Lions' hunt for goals.

extremely motivated

Calvert Fitzgerald, coach of August Town, who were beaten 2-1 by Wadadah on Wednesday, said his team will be going all out for the victory.

"We are extremely motivated because we didn't get a fair chance from the officials in our defeat to Wadadah, and so our players are very anxious to get all three points tomorrow (today)," Fitzgerald told The Gleaner yesterday.

"We just have to bring our 'A' game and try to wrap it up, especially since we are playing at home."

Fitzgerald added: "I am expecting a tough game because Humble Lions is a very good team and we have a lot of respect for them and we are anticipating a very exciting match."

August Town will be relying on striker Nicholas McCreath and midfielders Aphas and Donovan Bernard.
