Hydel athletes highlighted yesterday's second day with six of seven records, but Vaz are the leaders heading into today's final day of the Bigga/JISA Inter-Prep Schools Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium.

Vaz (56.5 points) surged ahead of Ardenne (47.5) in the overall standings, while defending champions Hydel are lingering in third position with 41 points.

Nine records broken

After seven finals, Vaz lead the girls' section with 31 points over Hydel (25) and Ardenne (22), while in the boys' section, Ardenne and Vaz are both on 25.50 points. Hydel are next with 16.

Nine records have so far been broken at the meet's third staging.

Hydel's Jordan James (54.60) in the semi-finals of the Class One boys' 400m, Amanda Carty (5.32m) in the girls' Class One long jump final, and Samara Spencer (1.55m) in the girls' Class One long jump final were among the individual record breakers.

Kelly Carey of Queen's (25.01) in the boys' Class One 200m was the day's other individual record breaker.

In team events, records were established by Hydel's girls in the 600 metres sprint medley open (1.23.34); Wolmer's boys in the 800m sprint medley open (1.53.28); Hydel's boys in the 4x200m open (1:44.40); Hydel's girls in the Class One 4x100m (51.22); and Vaz in the boys' 4x100m Class One (49.19) event.

The championship continues today at 10 a.m with the boys' Class Two long jump final and ends with the 4x200m open at 5:15 p.m.
