3-day ban for Walker
Champion jockey Omar Walker has been slapped with a three-day suspension.
Walker was banned by the stewards for improper riding aboard the favourite DANCING SAM in the eighth race for the Labour Day Trophy at Caymanas Park on Monday. DANCING SAM was disqualified from first place for interfering with the Paul Francis-ridden YAMASHITA'S GOLD throughout the last furlong.
Challenge on the inside
Walker produced DANCING SAM with his challenge on the inside on entering the straight and in a neck-and-neck duel with the leader YAMASHITA'S GOLD, repeatedly drifted out into the path of the latter. DANCING SAM went past the post half a length ahead of YAMA-SHITA'S GOLD in a driving finish.
However, following a stewards' inquiry and jockey's objection from Francis, DANCING SAM was disqualified and placed second and YAMASHITA'S GOLD (5-1) awarded the race.
Walker's suspension takes effect from Saturday, May 30.
