BEIJING:

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS sprint relay silver medalist Marvin Anderson looks likely to miss the 4x100m relay after he pulled up in the men's 200m second round yesterday.

"My hamstring gave way coming off the curve ... I tried to hold on, but I couldn't," said Anderson, who ran the first leg of Jamaica's silver medal team at last year's World Championships in Osaka.

In the first round, Anderson, a 200m finalist in Osaka last year, finished third in 20.85 to book his place in the second round.

He said it was too early to say if he would take part in the men's sprint relay.

"I have to see how my leg feels tomorrow morning but the fact that I am walking, it's a good sign," continued Anderson, who The Gleaner learnt has just recovered in time for the 200m heats.

Anderson, Usain Bolt, who ran a world record 9.69 seconds for the Olympic 100m title, Asafa Powell, Michael Frater and Dwight Thomas are in the pool of runners for the relay, which Jamaica are heavily favoured to win.
