THE FOURTH annual RISARC/Caribbean Classic Golf Invitational (CCGI) Founda-tion celebrity golf tournament and charity event will tee off from June 18-22 in Montego Bay, with a full schedule of star-studded events.

The chairman of the annual charity event and president of RISARC and CCGI foundations, Richard Stephenson, said proceeds from the event will go towards establishing much-needed technology learning centres for primary schools in Jamaica.

Excited

"We are very excited that our efforts have already resulted in the delivery of more than 500 new Dell computers to Jamaican primary schools," Stephenson said.

"We have received a number of glowing letters from teachers about how valuable these computers are to the students. We are pleased that the students are using the computers as learning tools for research, assignments and projects," he said.

Supporting this cause is a celebrity guest roster featuring Olympic champions, famous recording artistes, comedians and actors.

The list includes Michael Strahan of the New York Giants, the 2008 Super Bowl champions, basketball legend Julius Erving, former NFLers Brian Mitchell, Hank Bauer and Tony Siragusa and Olympic golf medallist Edwin Moses.

In addition to the celebrity golf tournament, there will be an international Muay Thai fight featuring world number-one Yodsaenklai Fairtex.

Fairtex won the prestigious Lumpinee Stadium title in Thailand and will defend his WBC Muay Thai super-welterweight title in one of nine title bouts scheduled for the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium.

Other fighters include Lam-songkram Chuwattana from Thailand, Farid Villaume of France and Aswin Balarak of Holland. The fights are scheduled for Friday, June 20 at 10 p.m.

Fighters from the United States, China, Japan, Russia, Australia and Mexico are also scheduled to participate.

Buzz incredible

"The buzz has been incredible," Stephenson said, "There have been comments posted about the event that indicate that it will come off as the greatest card in Muay Thai fighting history," he said.

The CCGI Foundation's mission is to develop a platform for leadership through innovative project initiatives to prepare young people to become leaders.

To achieve its goal, the foundation organises golf tournaments and other charity events. The proceeds are used to establish computer-learning centres
