# Business house domino starts May 30
Twenty-eight teams will contest the 2008 Kingston and St Andrew Business House domino competition which gets under way on Friday, May 30 with play in two divisions.
Sponsored by Jamaica Electrical Technologies (JET) and run by the National Association of Domino Bodies, the launching under the theme 'Don't Colt the Play' will take place at JET, 36 1/2 Molynes Road on Friday, May 16 starting at 6:00 p.m.
The launch will include representatives of teams in the St. Ann Business House competition.
Of the 28 teams entered, 12 will play in Division One and 16 in Division Two. Seprod will defend their Division One title and among their opponents are many-time champions The Gleaner, JET, Air Jamaica, Life of Jamaica, Bank of Jamaica, Jamaica Fire Brigade, who return following a one-year absence, as well as Wray & Nephew with two teams, White Rum and Brandy.
Last year's Division Two champions and champion of champions CVM TV are notable absentees this year, along with the RJR Communications Group. However, coming from the media, newcomers Jamaica Observer will join The Gleaner.
Other teams down to participate are Airports Authority, Carib Cement, Port Authority, Hardware & Lumber, NHT, JPS, NCB, Tastee, SDC, Pepsi, Lascelles, Tropicair, Jamaica Pre-Mix, Statistical Institute, Continental Baking Company, Berger and Nutrition Products.
Regional co-ordinator is Humbert Davis.
# Grant returns as president
Cosmo Grant was returned unopposed as president of the Business House Cricket Board for a fourth term at its annual general meeting held recently at the Cable & Wireless Sports Club, Chalmers Avenue.
Also returned were Oscar Hamilton and Izett McCalla as first and second vice-presidents respectively. Noel Clarke was elected third vice-president, replacing the veteran Sellie Mitchell, who did not seek re-election.
Other members of the board elected were Hopeton Shand, Roxvonne Stevens, O'Neil Nelson, Julian Royale, Ephraim McLeod and Anthony Burrowes, while Sellie Mitchell and Statham Graham will sit on the board as co-opted members.
The 2008 Digicel/BHCB season bowled off last Sunday.
# Windalco beat Jamalco
Windalco clipped Jamalco by one run in the opening round of the Business House Reggae Jammin 50-over cricket competition at Jamalco last Sunday.Windalco 169 all out (Vincent Russell 64, Anthony Lee 31; Collis Johnson 3-31 off five overs, Calvert Whittaker 3-34).
Jamalco 168 all out (Johnson 45 not out, Devon Gordon 26; Hamlet Stewart 4-40 off eight overs, Fabian Ranger 2-40).
At Mona: National Water Commission (NWC) defeated Continental Baking Company by one wicket. Continental Baking Company 212 all out (Ranville Brown 75, Nyron Morrison 44; Franklyn Brady 3-32, Garwain Johnson 2-26).
NWC 213 for nine (Linton 'Porus' Martin 69 not out, Calvert Shaw 34; Vondor Rowe 4-37, Junior Canegan 2-42).
At Kaiser: St. Ann Jamaica Bauxite defeated Carib Cement by 88 runs. St. Ann Bauxite 167 (G. Smith 32, P. Broomfield 26; N. Malcolm 4-39, W. Graham 3-21).
Carib Cement 79 off 22.2 overs (D. Williams 31; Karl McDonald 5 for 27, R. Dacres 3-29).
The competition continues today with five matches. NWC vs defending champions Cable & Wireless at Mona, Jamaica Broilers vs St. Ann Jamaica Bauxite at Spring Village, Windalco vs Carib Cement at Jamalco, LOJ vs Jamalco at Chalmers Avenue and Digicel vs Continental Baking Company at Kensington Park. All matches start at 11:00 a.m.
